The relationship between mental disorders and marijuana use is controversial, and one possible explanation is that they share a common potential genetic risk. Researchers from the University of Oslo in Norway investigated genetic associations between mental disorders (schizophrenia and bipolar disorder) and cannabis phenotypes (lifetime cannabis use and cannabis use disorders).

It is common for patients with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) to withdraw their medication, despite often attempting long-term treatment. However, international estimates of discontinuation rates for ADHD remain unknown due to the lack of standardized measures.
