MRI is currently the first-line method of prostate cancer examination in clinic. However, due to the interference of complex pathophysiological changes such as intraprostatic hyperplasia, inflammation and bleeding, as well as the heterogeneity of scan parameters and image quality, false positive results often appear in prostate MRI examination, resulting in some patients undergoing unnecessary puncture biopsy. In order to improve the accuracy of MRI diagnosis of prostate cancer, it is particularly important to clarify the underlying histopathological mechanism of different MRI manifestations.
Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) is currently the recognized standard for the acquisition and evaluation of Prostate MRI. For lesions located in the peripheral zone of the prostate, the PI-RADS guidelines recommend that the dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE) sequence should be referred to in the evaluation. However, there remains much controversy regarding the value of DCE in the assessment of prostatic lesions.
