Interventional research is one of the important components of clinical research in pediatrics. The selection of study endpoints in interventional studies is a very crucial link. The more recommended outcome indicators in academia are those that have clear clinical significance, can indicate the patient's clinical outcome, reflect the characteristics and variables of patient's feeling, function or survival, such as death, morbidity, readmission, etc., which are usually called hard endpoints. Due to the prospective nature of interventional studies and the requirements of research resources, especially in pediatric studies, if they hope to collect information on hard endpoints, they may need a long follow-up time. Therefore, in order to improve the efficiency of clinical studies, most researchers will choose those that can indirectly reflect the endpoint indicators of clinical outcomes are used to replace hard endpoints, also known as alternative endpoints. Surrogate endpoints are mostly biomarkers based on epidemiology, clinical medicine, pathophysiology or other scientific basis.
