This study is the first in the world to compare the clinical efficacy of traditional drug treatment options and metabolic surgery in the treatment of obesity with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and provides guidance for weight loss goals of obesity with PCOS. The study found that the complete remission rate of PCOS in the surgical group was 78%, while the complete remission rate in the drug group was only 15%, and metabolic surgery was far superior to drug therapy in terms of weight loss, anti-male, and improvement of ovarian structure. This study shows that metabolic surgery should be emphasized in the treatment of obese PCOS, and metabolic surgery should be considered as a treatment option for patients with unsatisfactory lifestyle intervention or drug therapy.
