Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization Time-of-Flight mass spectrometry, MALDI-TOF MS) Flight mass spectrometry is one of the most representative technologies in the field of clinical microbial identification in recent years. Each microorganism is composed of its own unique peptide/protein. The peptide/protein fingerprint of the microorganism can be detected by MALDI-TOF MS. After software processing and comparing with the microorganism database, the identification of microorganism species and genus level can be completed within a few minutes[1,2]。 Compared with traditional methods for detecting microbial phenotypes and physiological and biochemical methods, MALDI-TOF MS has the advantages of rapid, accurate, high throughput, and low cost[3,4]。 In addition to identify common bacteria and yeast-like fungi[5]It greatly improves the efficiency and ability of the clinical microbiology laboratory to identify difficult-to-identify microorganisms such as caustic bacteria, anaerobic bacteria, filamentous fungi and mycobacteria[6,7,8,9,10,11,12]。 The development of MALDI-TOF MS system, drug resistance analysis, bacterial homology analysis, positive blood culture and direct identification of bacteria in sterile body fluid are still in the scientific research stage[13,14,15,16,17,18,19]With the maturity of research and the realization of standardization, it is expected that it will gradually move from research to clinical application.
