With the rapid development of genomics research technology, it has been found that there are a large number of copy number variations in the genome (copy number variations, CNVs). Deletion or duplication of chromosome fragments can lead to changes in the copy number of dose-sensitive genes and cause various disease phenotypes. Using high-resolution genomic chip technology, many diseases have been found to be associated with CNVs at certain key gene loci. Smith-Magenis syndrome (SMS) is a congenital multiple malformation syndrome due to a microdeletion of 17p11.2 in the chromosomal region containing the RAI1 gene or a heterozygous mutation in the RAI1 gene. Its birth incidence is approximately 1:25 000, but the actual incidence may be close to 1:15 000[
Patient, male, 42 years old. The complaint was "left neck mass for 1 month".
