Some time ago, severe novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) caused by Omicron variant strain appeared in many places across the country. Critical treatment is the biggest challenge faced by medical institutions in China. How to manage these patients in a procedural and standardized manner and minimize the mortality rate is a problem that every front-line medical staff with different professional backgrounds has to face. Therefore, the Critical Care Group of Respiratory Disease Branch of Chinese Medical Association and the Critical Care Medicine Expert Group of Respiratory Disease Branch of Chinese Medical Doctors Association jointly initiated and organized respiratory and critical care experts. Based on the current evidence-based medical evidence and clinical practice, they wrote the Recommended Opinions of Experts on Clinical Treatment of Severe Novel Coronavirus Infection Caused by Omicron Variant Strain, in order to standardize the clinical treatment of critically ill patients. The recommendation was first published online in pre-published form on January 5.
