Investigators in clinical studies usually use a non-inferiority design. The non-inferiority design was designed to verify that the test group was slightly worse than the positive control in terms of effectiveness, but the level of poor was within an acceptable range and did not exceed a smaller amount as specified beforehand. This quantity is referred to as the non-inferiority boundary, or Δ (Δ>0).
