traumatic popliteal vascular injuries (TPVI) have the highest risk of amputation among all peripheral vascular injuries (14% ~25%). It is of great value to predict the risk of amputation in patients with TPVI by using effective preoperative assessment tools. The common problem with the existing limb injury severity score (MESS score), nerve injury, ischemia, soft tissue injury, bone injury, shock, and patient age score (NISSA score), limb salvage index, predicted salvage index, and Hanover Fracture Scale is the small study sample size (all<50 patients), insufficient prediction accuracy. This study aimed to provide a simplified and accurate traumatic popliteal injury score (POPSAVEIT scoring system) for preoperative amputation risk stratification in patients with TPVI.
