Adult severe community-acquired pneumonia (SCAP) refers to infectious pulmonary parenchymal and interstitial inflammation that occurs outside the hospital, including acute severe pulmonary infection with definite incubation period and onset within 48 hours after admission. Lower respiratory tract infections are the diseases with the highest mortality rate in low-and middle-income countries in the world, and the mortality rate of SCAP can be as high as 34% ~50%. In addition to respiratory viruses, bacteria (Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Legionella pneumophila, Bouteria pertussis, Mycobacterium, Nocardia, etc.), atypical pathogens (Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Rickettsia) and fungi are also pathogenic microorganisms that cannot be ignored by SCAP.
