"Blue lips" are not a story character in the movie "Avatar", but are synonymous with patients with pulmonary hypertension, because these patients often have blue-purple lips due to lack of oxygen. Pulmonary hypertension is a mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP) ≥25 mmHg (1 mmHg =0.133 kPa, sea level, resting state, right heart catheterization) due to various causes. Since the first case of pulmonary hypertension was reported by German pathologist Romberg in 1891, after more than a century of hard exploration, our understanding of the pathogenesis of pulmonary hypertension has been deepened, the diagnosis and treatment strategies have been continuously optimized, and the prognosis of patients has been continuously improved. In December 2018, the Cardiovascular Branch of Chinese Medical Association and the Editorial Committee of Chinese Journal of Cardiovascular Diseases jointly released the Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension in China 2018. Combined with the current international clinical practice status and the actual situation in China, the guidelines revised and updated the definition, clinical classification, diagnosis process and treatment strategy of pulmonary hypertension, which is of great significance to standardize clinicians' diagnosis and treatment behavior and improve the clinical diagnosis and treatment level of pulmonary hypertension in China. Based on this guideline, this article talks about the important progress and some thoughts on the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension.
