With the acceleration of population aging, the incidence of dementia is increasing year by year. The base of dementia patients in China is large, which brings a heavy burden to dementia caregivers and families. Besides, as the main body of society, dementia patients involve ethical issues. This guide is based on evidence-based medicine and combined with the actual situation in China, and puts forward guiding opinions on ethical and legal issues involved in dementia caregivers and dementia patients for clinical reference. The literature evidence level and recommendation strength criteria can be found in the article "Chinese Guidelines for Dementia and Cognitive Impairment (I): Dementia Diagnosis Process" in the series published in this journal[1,2]。
