The prevention and treatment guidelines of bronchial asthma (hereinafter referred to as asthma) at home and abroad all point out that the goal of asthma management is to achieve and maintain asthma symptom control, and adjust the treatment plan according to asthma control level in asthma management, and carry out long-term asthma management, including three basic contents: assessment, treatment and monitoring[1,2]。 The guidelines emphasize that most asthma patients can achieve the therapeutic goal of asthma control after medication, especially when effective management is implemented[1,2]。 The updated version of the 2009 Global Asthma Initiative (GINA), based on the original definition of asthma control, puts forward the concept of overall asthma control, and proposes to achieve current control while reducing future risks[3]。 However, many domestic and foreign research results show that the control rate of asthma is far lower than the target of the guidelines[4,5,6,7,8,9]。 Poor control of asthma seriously affects patients' daily life, work and study, resulting in repeated acute attacks, emergency medical treatment and hospitalization, lung function impairment, increased treatment cost, reduced social productive capacity and serious socio-economic burden[4,5,6,7,8,9]。 Therefore, updating the concept of asthma control, improving the existing asthma management model and strengthening the treatment strategy of asthma control are of great significance to improve the overall control level of asthma. In view of this, the Asthma Group of Respiratory Disease Branch of Chinese Medical Association organized relevant domestic experts to formulate this consensus for clinical practice reference with reference to relevant guidelines and consensus, especially the important literature on asthma control published in recent years.
