laboratory developed tests (LDT) usually refer to the test methods developed, verified and used by the medical laboratory department. They are only used within the medical laboratory department and are not sold as commodities to other medical laboratory departments, hospitals and individuals[
Bloodstream infection has a high mortality rate, and timely and accurate identification of pathogens of bloodstream infection is crucial to optimize antimicrobial therapy and improve the prognosis of patients. At present, the "gold standard" for diagnosing bloodstream infection at home and abroad is still blood culture. The traditional identification method takes at least 48 hours after blood culture reports positivity, but more rapid pathogen identification results are needed in clinic. Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry, MALDI-TOF MS) It is a new technology for microorganism identification, which has been widely used in clinical laboratories because of its advantages of speed, accuracy and convenience. A large number of studies have confirmed that the positive blood culture specimens can be directly identified by MALDI-TOF MS after processing by bacterial enrichment technology, which greatly improves the identification speed, shortens the reporting time and meets the needs of rapid clinical diagnosis.
