inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic non-specific intestinal inflammatory disease whose etiology is not well understood, including ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD). IBD is a common disease in North America and Europe, and the incidence of IBD in Japan has been gradually increasing in the past 30 years. Although there is no epidemiological data of general population in China, it is very obvious that the number of patients seeking medical treatment for this disease has gradually increased in recent 10 years[1,2]IBD has become a common disease of digestive system in China. With the gradual deepening of understanding of this disease, the Gastroenterology Branch of Chinese Medical Association formulated consensus opinions on the diagnosis and treatment of IBD in 1978, 1993, 2000 and 2007. In recent years, the research on the diagnosis and treatment of IBD has progressed rapidly, and the level of diagnosis and treatment of IBD has been greatly improved. Therefore, the consensus opinions on the diagnosis and treatment of IBD have recently been revised in Europe and the United States. In recent years, the digestive community in China has attached great importance to IBD, accumulated rich clinical experience and published many research reports. In view of this, this group mainly draws on the latest foreign consensus, and combines the research achievements of our country and the actual situation of our country, to revise the consensus opinion of our country in 2007. Strive to make the new consensus opinions better reflect the new progress, the content is more comprehensive and in-depth, and the guiding value of clinical practice is more. This consensus is mainly aimed at the management of IBD in adults, the management of IBD in children and the management of IBD patients during pregnancy. Because there is still lack of sufficient knowledge and experience in China, this consensus has not been discussed.
