Lan Ping, MD, PhD, Professor, Chief Physician, and Doctoral Supervisor, is the Director of Colorectal Surgery at the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. He serves as the Principal Investigator of the National Key Research and Development Program of China and is a recipient of the State Council Special Allowance. In March 2021, as a core member of the research team, Professor Lan received the First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education's Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Awards for Higher Education. He is also a recipient of the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the "Outstanding Achievement Award" of China's National Renowned Doctors, and the title of "Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions" awarded by the former Ministry of Health. He has been recognized as one of the "Top 100 Outstanding Talents of Guangdong Province". Professor Lan currently serves as a Standing Committee Member of the Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. He is a Fellow of the European Coloproctology Association (ECTA), a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS), and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
