Paralytic dementia is a chronic meningoencephalitis caused by Treponema pallidum invading the parenchyma of the brain. Its symptoms include progressive cognitive impairment and mental disorders. In recent years, the prevalence of paralytic dementia has increased, but because it can imitate the symptoms of other diseases, it is often missed and misdiagnosed in clinical practice, resulting in delayed treatment and poor prognosis. It is necessary to explore the differential diagnosis of paralytic dementia from dementia caused by other causes. At the same time, paralytic dementia may be associated with other autoimmune pathologies, whose role in the overall course and prognosis remains unclear.
