Empirical evidence suggests a significant two-way association between mental disorders and somatic disorders, but there are no studies outlining in detail the potential impact of mental disorders on clinical outcomes of somatic disorders. In this umbrella review consistent with PRISMA and COSMOS-E, the authors retrieved Systematic Reviews and meta-analysis literature on the prospective association between any psychiatric disorder and clinical outcome of somatic disease in databases such as PubMed, PsycINFO, Embase, and Joanna Briggs Institute Database of Systematic Reviews and Implementation Reports up to March 15, 2022. Primary outcomes included disease-specific mortality and all-cause mortality. Secondary outcomes include disease-specific incidence, function and/or disability, symptom severity, quality of life, relapse or progression, major cardiac events, and treatment-related outcomes. A random effects model was adopted, combined with I2Statistics, 95% prediction interval, small sample effect test, excessive significance bias test, and risk of bias (ROBIS) assessment. According to the established criteria, the associations were classified into five levels of credibility evidence (Ⅰ ~ Ⅳ and non-significant), and the robustness of the primary analysis was tested by sensitivity and subgroup analysis. Statistical analysis was performed using the Umbrella Review new software package (https: / /metaumbrella.org). Then, the population attributable score (PAF) and generalized impact score (GIF) for category Ⅰ ~ Ⅲ associations were calculated.
