For urgent clinical decision-making needs, rapid guidelines can be developed. rapid evidence production (REP) based on existing real world data (RWD) and clinical research methodologies is equally important to provide evidence for the iteration of guidelines when directly related original research is lacking. For example, early evidence of the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic comes from RWD-based observational studies in the United States. Although my country has an advantage in the number of cases and drugs, it has not been able to quickly transform it into clinical evidence. In order to cope with similar situations in the future, Chinese scholars have proposed to construct a clinical research path of REP. From the perspective of clinical research methodology, the following key elements need to be considered in the REP pathway.
