357 cervical tissue sections with different diagnoses were reviewed with Meisels' criteria. The results showed that 257 of 357 (71.99%) presented uterine cervical condyloma, in which 141 were simple condyloma, 50 dysplasia with condyloma and 66 carcinoma with condyloma. Most of the cervical condylomas occurred in native squamous epithelia and were flat type (92.22%). Endophytic type was only in 7.78%, and no exophytic type was found. In the same section, cervical condyloma lesions were closely adjacent to dysplasia or carcinoma foci. In the process of the development of cervical carcinoma, the extent of the associated condyloma became severer as its proportion decreased gradually; quite seemingly, there is a spectrum of continuous pathomorphologic changes from cervical condyloma to carcinoma.

摘要
In 1981, a World Health Organization (WHO) working group on cardiovascular disease (CVD) proposed an international long-term prospective study of trends and determinants of CVD (MONICA project). Chinese government designated the Beijing Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Medical Center (BHLBC) to be a collaborating unit to this study in 1982. Our study has been carried out in Beijing and named as Sino-MONICA-Beijing. After a pilot study for 2 years, the project formally started on January 1, 1984. This paper presents the organization and methodology of the study, with results of CVD monitoring for 1983-1985. Sources of case-finding used in community surveillance for CVD are dis. cussed in detail. Preliminary experience has shown that the Sino-MONICA-Beijing study is a well standardized project of long-term surveillance of CVD in the communities of Beijing.
The object of this study is to evaluate the role of condyle position and occlusion in temporomandibular joint dysfunction syndrome (TMJDS). Based on the analysis of the condyle position, status of occlusion, range of mouth opening and symptoms and signs both before and after treatment of 195 TMJDS cases, the results of our study showed that posterior displacement of condyles occurred in 86(57%) of 150 TMJDS cases; 180(92%) of 195 TMJDS cases were associated with malocclusion, especially Class I malocclusion; but of 128 TMJDS case there were 85 (66%) and 80(62%) cases respectively of balancing side interference and poor centric occlusal contacts. Apparently the above facts are significant factors causing TMJDS.
It is currently known that human cancer transplantation in nude rats had a lower take rate and a higher spontaneous regression rate than that in nude mice. Data regarding transplantable human hepatoceUular carcinoma (HCC) model in nude rats was rare in the literature. This paper presents the establishment and some of the characteristics of two subcutaneous transplantable human HCC models in nude rats, LTNR1 and LTNR2 (human liver cell cancer tissue in nude rats), which were derived from nude mice models LTNM3 and LTNM4 (human liver cell cancer tissue in nude mice). LTNR1 and LTNR2 were both AFP-secreting, moderately differentiated (Grade II-III) human HCC models, readily for serial transplantation. High transplantability (97.1% and 72.7%), low spontaneous regression rate (1.0% and O), short latent period 15.1±6.7 and 22.0±10.9 days, and high growth rate are the advantages of this model. Additionally they are able to provide large amount of cancer tissue for basic research and enough blood for serial monitoring.

Serum ferritin levels are measured by double-antibody radio-immunoassay in 96 normal adults and 338 patients with various diseases. In 64 normal females, the range is from 4 to 152 ng/ml, and in 32 normal males, from 18 to 284 ng/ml. Approximately 93.1% (54/58) of patients with uncomplicated iron deficiency anemia had serum ferritin concentrations <18 ng/ml, whereas serum ferritin was above the normal upper limit in all 8 cases of sideroblastic anemia and 10 cases of thalassemia. Elevated serum ferritin levels were observed in 91/103 patients with acute leukemia, 4/4 patients with erythroleukemia, 9/9 patients with malignant histiocytosis and 10/10 patients with malignant lymphoma, whereas in all 45 patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, serum ferritin was within normal range. The serum ferritin values exceeded the normal upper limit in 9 of 11 (81.8%) patients with "blast crisis" of chronic myeloid leukemia, only in 2 0f 13 (15.4%) cases with chronic myeloid leukemia, was elevated serum ferritin found (p≤0.05). All 67 patients with epidemic hemorrhagic fever had elevated serum ferritin levels.
The synergism of indole and cholic acid can increase formation of cellular superoxide radical and elevate gut concentration of carcinogens. The authors suggest that indole may promote some biochemical changes related to tumor in the early stage of DMH large intestine carcinogenesis. Cholic acid is strongly carcinogenic in the large intestines.
Fourty-five cases with prolactin secreting adenoma were studied through main clinical symptoms, measurement of anterior pituitary hormone, pituitary dynamic functional tests (TRH, MCP) roentgenodiagnosis, and pathologic examination, including electronmicroscopy (EM). The diagnostic criteria of prolactinorua were discussed. Amenorrhea, galactorrhea, serum PRL>200 ng/ml when other causes of hyperprolactinemia are excluded, a blunted response of serum PRL to TRH or MCP and characteristic feature of Nebenkerns and misplaced exocytosis shown by EM all favour the diagnosis of prolactinoma.
Hysterical psychoneurosis frequently presents with seizures, which can be distinguished from genuine seizures by the determination of plasma prolactin concentration that is significantly raised in genuine seizures but not so in hysterical seizures. The results of this study confirm the previous finding that the prolactin levels, in genuine seizures, are raised almost 3-fold 15 minutes after the fits. This was not found in cases which had been diagnosed as hysterical seizures.

This paper describes a dualprecipitation method with dextran sulfate MW 500000 (DS 500000) and CaCl2 for determination of high density lipoprotein (HDL) subclasses in serum. The apoB-containing lipoproteins were first precipitated with low concentration of DS and CaCl2, then the final concentration of DS was raised to a level of 0.15 g/dl to precipitate HDL2. The concentration of HDL- and HDL3 cholesterol (Ch) in both supernatants were measured respectively. The HDL2-Ch was obtained by substracting HDL3-Ch from total HDL-Ch. A good precision was obtained by this method, the coefficient of variation of within and between run were 1.06 and 2.8% for total HDL-Ch; 4.76 and 8.25% for HDL2-Ch; 2.61 and 2.53% for HDL-Ch, respectively. The results estimated by this method correlated closely with those obtained by Gider's method; the correlation coefficients between total HDL-, HDL2- and HDL3-Ch were 0.965, 0.847 and 0.85, respectively. The level of HDL and its subclasses were determined in 1 274 healthy people by this method. Total Ch and triglyceride concentrations were estimated simultaneously. The results showed that the level of HDL and its subclasses in Chinese were similar to those in Caucasians. The HDL- and HDL2-Ch levels were also higher in females than in males in Chinese, but the increase was lower than that in white women. The serum total Ch and LDL-Ch in Chinese were markedly lower than those in Caucasians.

The 2,3-diphosphoglycerate (2,3-DPG) content of freshly drawn blood is 22.4±1.49 µM/gHb. When whole blood with ACD preservative solution is stored at 4 C for 3-4 weeks, the erythrocyte 2,3-DPG content decreases to 2.91±0.86 µM/gHb (12.96% that of fresh blood). The erythrocyte oxygen delivery capacity lowered correspondingly with the decrease in 2,3-DPG content. Extract of Radix Codonopsis pilosulae 党参 and Radix Astragali 黄芪 were added to 2,3-DPG depleted blood and stored at 37C for 4 hours. Now the 2,3-DPG content was 9.11±2.00 μM/gHb (40.67% that of fresh blood), lactic acid 5.09±0.64 mg/mgFe and P50 32-33 mmHg. Control samples without the herbals added were correspondingly 4.18±1.32 µM/gHb (18.56% that of fresh blood), 3.86±0.84 mg/mgFe and 36-38.5 mmHg. It appeared that Radix Codonopsis pilosullae and Radix Astragali can promote erythrocytc glycolysis, increase erythrocyte 2,3-DPG content and improve oxygen delivery capacity.
